Two Ecosystems, One Tool
Don’t settle for a generic layout. Our tester adapts to your specific operating system to ensure modifier keys and layouts match your physical hardware.
- Windows Mode: Optimized for 104-key layouts. Features the standard Win key, rounded-square keycaps, and a full Numpad cluster.
- macOS Mode: Tailored for Apple users. Features the circular keycap aesthetic, Command (⌘) and Option (⌥) labels, and support for extended function keys up to F19.
Professional Testing Features
🟢 Real-Time Input History (The “Pill” Bar)
Located at the top of the interface, our Dynamic History Bar tracks your exact press sequence.
- Detect Double-Typing: Identify “key chatter” if one press generates two teal pills.
- Mouse Health: Verify your Left Click and Right Click switches alongside your keys.
- Sequence Verification: Ensure complex shortcuts (like
Ctrl+Shift+Esc) are registering in the correct order.
⌨️ Full-Size Hardware Support
We provide a complete 100% keyboard map, including areas often missed by other testers:
- Numpad Cluster: Test every digit, operator ($+$, $-$, $*$, $/$), and the secondary Enter key.
- Navigation & Arrows: Dedicated testing for the Arrow cluster, Insert, Home, Page Up/Down, and Delete.
- Media & Function Rows: Verify F1–F12 and common media shortcuts like Volume, Play/Pause, and Browser controls.
How to Diagnose Your Keyboard in 3 Steps
- Toggle Your OS: Use the Windows or Apple icon at the top to match your device.
- Run the “Sweep”: Press every key on your physical keyboard. The virtual key will flash pure white to confirm a successful signal.
- Check for Ghosting: Press multiple keys simultaneously (N-Key Rollover). If your keyboard is working correctly, every key held down will stay highlighted on the screen.
Technical FAQ
Is my data private?
Yes. This tool is built entirely on local JavaScript. Your keystrokes are processed only within your browser and are never sent to a server. Privacy is built-in.
Why does my Mac keyboard look different in the tester?
Apple keyboards often use a different physical shape (circular or low-profile). By toggling the Apple icon, the tester switches to a macOS-native layout, ensuring your Cmd and Opt keys are correctly identified.
A key didn’t light up white. What does that mean?
If you press a physical key and the screen doesn’t react, the key is “dead” (unresponsive). If the key lights up and stays white even after you let go, the key is “stuck” or the switch is failing.
